Learn how to overcome stress and anxiety naturally with these lesser known methods, that are more effective than just meditation or mindfulness.
I’ve successfully overcome anxiety using these same practices.
I know your pain.
I know the suffering, and I don’t want you to suffer any longer.
What I am going to share with you, is the essence, the best of what I have learned to overcome anxiety.
It cost me both time and money.
I am giving it away to you for free.
But let me warn you.
This is not some internet thrash.
I am sharing tips with you that are pure gold.
I am saying this, because we’ve learned to value only those things that we have to pay for.
Before you decide to pass on the practices listed here, try them.
Else, it is easy to get lost in the jungle of the world wide web.
With that said, let’s get started.
Here’s how to overcome stress and anxiety like a champ.
Stress vs Anxiety
Stress is a state of unease.
There can be many reasons for it, and it is a common thing these days.
In most cases, there’s not much you need to do to relax.
Your body easily processes the stress, and after a good night’s sleep, you wake up feeling fine.
Anxiety on the other hand is not as simple.
In anxiety the state of anxiousness doesn’t pass off as easily as it does with normal day to day stress.
No amount of relaxing is able to switch off that state.
It can vary from one degree to another, but it’s never like, totally gone.
This is because it is kept alive by a part of our brain that has been triggered for the wrong reasons.
They call this part Amygdala.
The state of anxiousness is often born out of negative imagination.
Which is what sends wrong signals to the Amygdala, for it is unable to differentiate between a real vs perceived threat.
Since one of the functions of the Amygdala is our survival, once it is switched on, it is on the lookout for potential threats.
Psychologists say this part of the brain was developed when our ancestors lived in caves, and had to face one threat or another.
But that is not the case now.
We don’t have any imminent threats like that.
Yet for some of us, this part of the brain is triggered for the wrong reasons.
By wrong reasons, I am talking about irrational thoughts.
Why this happens with some people, and not so much with others?
Based on my research on the internet, this could be due to genes, environment or physiological factors.
In my understanding, anxiety is caused due to an error in thinking, or rather identifying with the mind. (We’ll talk more about this later.)
Living under constant stress isn’t how we are designed to live.
Which makes Anxiety and all its relatives temporary.
These states are not permanent!
Good news isn’t it?
All that is required is some healing, and unlearning the habit.
Yes, in case you’re wondering, Anxiety is a habit.
And just like other habits, you can unlearn it.
With time and persistence.
Now that you have some idea of what stress and anxiety is, let us look at some powerful ways to heal and recover naturally.
Let’s begin with a prayer.
“O Divine intelligence, I know nothing, I don’t know how to heal myself, all I know is that I am your child, and I am willing to let you heal me, I surrender myself to you, and I thank you for healing me.”
We truly don’t know much, but there is an intelligence beyond our knowing that knows everything.
The Stress & Anxiety Healing Practice Guide
Do these practices before going to bed.
This ensures your body gets adequate time to heal after the practice.
1. Six Healing Sounds
As the name suggests, we are going to use sounds to heal ourselves.
Now if you’re like, “What? Sounds?”
Yes, sounds of certain vibrations, can have great therapeutic effects.
If you’re not convinced, read this.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, these six healing sounds are connected to the six major organs of the body.
Namely – Lungs, Kidneys, Liver, Heart, Spleen, Stomach and Pancreas.
For each organ, there is a healing sound associated to it.
Focusing your eyes into the organ, and making the associated sound can bring about the required healing.
You are releasing energy that is stuck in the body.
You feel stuck don’t you? This is how you get unstuck!
When energy flows freely, healing occurs naturally.
I used to think, stress and anxiety is only in the head, but I was glad to find out that various organs can have certain emotions trapped in them.
Depresssion is common when energy is stuck in the lungs.
Fears and Phobias are associated to the kidneys.
Stress and anger are associated to the liver.
Jealously, hatred, impatience are stored in the heart.
Worry and Anxiety — Spleen, Stomach & Pancreas.
This is where the practice of Six Healing Sounds makes all the difference.
You start to release these trapped emotions, and begin to feel lighter.
As you practice it regularly, you free yourself from these trapped emotions.
Follow this video by Qigong Master Mantak Chia, demonstrating Six Healing Sounds:
The video is an hour long, so you may want to revisit this article if you can’t watch it right now. Bookmark this page if needed.
Do this practice daily, and incase you notice increased levels of agitation at the beginning, do not worry!
Keep drinking lots of water, since you’re detoxing your organs.
When to expect results:
I’d say, almost immediately, you will notice a difference.
Within 3 days, you will notice more changes.
As you progress, over a period of 30 days, you can expect visible results.
I’d say, however long it takes, keep practicing, it will give results.
I am sure you are aware of Acupuncture — Where they insert thin needles at specific points in the body to release blockages.
Acupressure is similar to this, but without needles, and is also greatly effective in releasing blockages from various points in the body.
Below video is from one of the Acupressure experts Michael Reed Gach, who has been teaching Acupressure for quite sometime.
It contains instructions for your night time healing routine:
Each Acupressure point will require just a minute, so you can be done with this exercise in 5 minutes.
This along with Six Healing Sounds, will need a total of 20-30 minutes.
Please be willing to invest 30 minutes every day towards your good health.
I’ve tried various modalities for healing, so I am giving you the very best and most effective ones.
Since most people with anxiety are anxious while sleeping, they wake up in an irritable mood.
But once you start doing your bedtime routine, you will be sleeping better, and are more likely to wake up feeling refreshed.
Since we’re unlearning the habit of Anxiety, we need to start changing what we do first thing in the morning.
The default state for most people is to worry.
But this isn’t how we’ll start our day.
We will instead begin with a glass of water, and a Yoga practice.
1. Drink a glass of water:
Before you slept, you did the Six Healing Sounds practice, you moved a lot of energy, and toxins need to be flushed out of the system.
Water will help with this.
So make it a point to have at least a glass of water to begin with.
2. Alternate Nostril Breathing
A simple, highly effective way to get fresh life force in the body and get energy moving!
Alternate nostril breathing helps purify the Nadis that are channels for energy to flow freely.
You can start with as little as 2 minutes and take it further from there.
Here’s a video on how to practice Alternative Nostril Breathing.
Do this every day without fail, and see your anxiety and depression melt away.
Throughout the day:
1. Move Your Body More
Sitting has become the new smoking.
Our bodies are not designed for the sedentary lifestyle we lead these days.
Make a deliberate attempt to walk, move around.
Staring at a computer screen, or mobile phone for long periods of time can be harmful.
You need the circulation going, the energy moving.
Remember, the better the flow of energy in your body, the healthier you will be.
I use an app called Break for Eyes, to ensure I look away from the screen, every 20 minutes, and also gives me an opportunity to get up from my desk and move around.
I think Break for Eyes is only for Mac users.
Windows users will need to shop around.
2. Stay Hydrated
Not with sugary drinks, just plain water would be best.
Again, we’re interested in keeping the energy flowing.
Water is a helpful agent.
So far, all the practices that we covered, are to bring the system back in harmony.
To fuse the stressors that kept firing on autopilot.
But that is not all.
We now have to start unlearning Anxiety.
1. Love it all
CBT or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is what will help you take charge of yourself again.
To put it simply, we will learn to stop focusing on thoughts that don’t make us feel good.
I’ve tried a few ways to do this before, but I found the most effective to be, the one where you just love it all.
Yes, love it all, even those thoughts that scare the heck out of you.
Might sound weird, but the fact is, love always keeps you in a positive vibration.
So when you use love on anything like a dark thought or emotion, that energy is cancelled out, and you get to be you, you get to be love.
Having bad thoughts or emotions, doesn’t make you a bad person.
So don’t be hard on yourself.
Put a smile on your face, and practice a little courage when facing unpleasant thoughts or feelings.
And go right to them, and love them.
You are to do nothing but be a silent witness, who isn’t judging anything.
And just love it all.
This video, which frankly, I discovered after I had already started following this method, explains it well, and further validates what I am saying here.
Everybody has some wonky thoughts and emotions, it is a part of being human.
So what arises as thoughts and emotions is not the problem.
It’s our reaction.
Normally, people don’t react too much when they run into a weird thought, they simply move on with life.
It is when you sit with the thought, and try to make it disappear, is what is the cause of all the trouble.
It is a lie, that good people don’t have bad thoughts.
Your thoughts do not define you in any way.
Loving it all is the key to healing.
It took me a long time to understand this.
But this is a very important step in healing and unlearning anxiety.
Usually, when you find yourself in an anxious situation, you immediately put your guards on, and want to resist it.
Indirectly, triggering the Amygdala in action.
And when you’re functioning from this part of the brain, you’re under stress.
The best way to switch off this reaction is simply to love the thought that is arising, love the emotion that is arising.
Simply say “I love You” in your mind, with a smile on your face!
You won’t believe it, but pretty quickly, you will feel relaxed, and no longer feel like you are under any kind of threat.
Now you might say, “How in the world am I supposed to love that stinky thought, or that horrid emotion?”
Let this be your opportunity to learn uncondtional love.
This is what uncondtional love is about. It is all inclusive.
So when another revelation in the form of a thought or feeling occurs, say I Love you.
You are literally changing the vibration of that thought and feeling.
Love is the highest vibration there is.
When you shower love even on those things that you think don’t deserve it.
You will see that those things start to transform, to disappear.
After-all everything is energy.
From this point on, you have no enemies.
No thought or emotion is your enemy, whatever arises love it.
And if you must call them as enemies, that is fine too, as long as you still love them.
Jesus has said, love your enemies more.
This is not about religion, but loving your enemies is a wonderful way of loving yourself.
Because until you have enemies, you cannot be happy.
No single soul on this planet can be happy, until they have enemies.
When you love your enemies, you transform them into your allies.
Your dark thoughts and emotions find love quite indigestable.
When you persistently shower love on them, they have no choice but to leave you alone.
Practice love throughout the day.
With yourself, and others.
It will transform your life.
Earlier, I had tried several supplements, but after some research, I feel it is best to stay away from most.
Here’s what I recommend instead:
- Almonds are great to improve brain function.
- Sunlight, get plenty of it, for it is the best source of Vitamin D.
- Timely meals — avoid over eating.
- Stay Hydrated. Carry a bottle of water wherever you go.
If you’re on any medication, don’t stop without consulting your doctor. I say this, because certain medicines need to be stopped in a systematic way.
Only your doctor can advise you on the best way to go about it.
That’s it for now.
We’ve come a long way.
You did it! You just completed reading the whole guide!
